David Brown
Chief Market Strategist and Director
Sabrient's research team is headed
by Chief Market Strategist David Brown, former NASA
scientist and retired CEO of Telescan, Inc.
A lifelong investor, David designed and developed
the critically acclaimed stock search program,
ProSearch, and the market timing indicator, the
Brown Breakout Ratio (BBR). He was named Stock Traders Almanac's Man of the Year for 1988 for "[showing]
the average investor how to spot the stocks that the
hottest money managers are buying." He has edited
several market letters, including the Undervalued
Growth Report, a real-money portfolio which he
published for 10 years with a record of nearly 20%
compounded annual returns and no loss years.
He has documented his investing expertise in four
books on investing, including
All About Stock Market
Strategies (McGraw-Hill, June 2002) and
Cyber-Investing: Cracking Wall Street with your
Personal Computer
(John Wiley & Sons, 1994, 1997).
The latter was named Book of the Year in 1997 by
PBS's Inside Money. He has taught finance and security
analysis courses at the University of Houston.
A former CEO of two public companies, David has
served on the boards of several banks and
organizations, including the Advisory Board of the
Southwest Council of Public CEOs. In 1985 he served as Chairman of the U.S. Science and Technology Commission.
He holds an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of
Houston and a B.S. in Engineering from the
University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the
Author's Guild.
The Team
At Sabrient, David leads a team of talented research
scientists and analysts who work continually to
improve and expand Sabrient's quantitative
methodology.
Joshua R.
Anderson, Ph.D.
Director of Research & Development
Josh is a financial model developer and Sabrient's computational-systems architect. His research interests include developing models of investor behavior at individual and institutional levels, and applying these in studies that help form market outcome expectations.
Josh developed prepayment and corporate-bond risk models for BlackRock Financial Management prior to joining Sabrient. He received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Theodore Spradlin
Chief Quantitative Analyst
Ted is the lead analyst and production engineer
behind Sabrient's SmartRank scorecards and SmartStock
reports. He had extensive experience in stock screening
models and equity analysis from both a technical and
fundamental perspective. He holds a B.A. in
Philosophy and Psychology from Southwest Texas State University.
Paul Alvim
Chief Equity Analyst
Paul is responsible for Sabrient's filter
backtesting and production models. He is the
coauthor of Alpha Trading System and Better Timing,
Higher Profits. He has written several investing
strategies handbooks and co-edited two options
newsletters. He is the former managing editor of
WallStreetCity.com.
